Before there were tweets or blog posts, there were speeches.
Before there were essays or books, there were speeches.
Before there were written words or formal rhetoric, there were speeches.
The endurance of speech proves its power as a communication tool. When given correctly, speeches have been known to change the trajectories of revolutions and wars.
We all have heard speeches of many kinds: political and ceremonial, educational and entertaining. But commencement speeches are what fascinates me the most.
I admire modern commencement speeches more than the other types because in them, there is rhetoric but no hidden agendas. There is storytelling but no fabrication. There are dreams but no false promises.
Speeches is my sincere effort in collecting what I consider the greatest modern commencement speeches.
Onwards we go.
